hi i have just recently re installed windows xp on to my computer. I am not sure which is the best firewall to have. The previous free firewall i had was Zonealarm. What is the currently best firewall to have?

I have used AVG Anti Virus, Zone Alarm Firewall, Spy-bot Search and Destroy and Ad Aware both spyware killers for years. They are all free for personal use and I have had no trouble with Viruses Trojans etc. I have just upgraded to AVG free 8.0 and all seems good so far. Zone Alarm allows a lot of personal configuration best free firewallunlike the Windows Firewall. They can all be downloaded from I also use Windows Defender from the Microsoft site. It is safe to use two anti-spy products but never use more than one A/V as it can cause conflicts. You should run A/V and anti spy weekly. Hope this helps
My opinion is "ZoneAlarm" it is the best Free program. But like the other person said, the best would be the one that you "BUY", the one that you buy would give you more protections as the ones that you get for free has a limit amount of protections.
I would buy one they are better than the best free firewallfree go with Norton's or Mcfee, but I don't like Commando it will ask permission for everything. if you do anything with personally data or banking online invest in some good software. It will pay off.
komodo is good and so is zone alarm. the best firewall is firestarter which comes with linux kubuntu and several other distros plus with linux your op sys is immune to windows viri.
I personally believe Zone-alarm is the best and wouldn't have any other... Why are you not using it again?
